The second day I had 2 hours of maths, and (what was meant to be) 2 hours of photography. However They cut photography short since it was an introductory lesson and cancelled today's lesson because they want all their classes to have the introduction this week so they can start teaching them all next week. Maths is good since I'm with someone I know (
Photography looks like it's gonna be pretty fun. The lecturers are really funny and seem to be good both at teaching and relating with the students. The other people in my class all seem nice, friendly etc... And the course looks fun too. We started by seeing examples of other people's work... some very cool stuff. Aswell as the darkroom there is quite a bit of work on the digital side of things, with photoshop etc which I didn't know about. They supply great scanners and computers. A very cool manip entitled camera-eyes Reminded me of something that would have acheived high manip appraisal on deviantart
The units that the course is divided into sound cool. There's an 'urban landscape' type project, and a more introspective 'human portraits' unit, which seems to yield more gruesome pictures. I forget the other units beyond those... but they sounded good to me too. I am aware though that the course isn't just taking photos. There's a lot of theory and, of course, analysing other pieces of work aswell as your own. I think that'll take up the bulk of my time. That and research.
My english lessons don't seem too bad... but they're certainly not as good as my last school. They're fairly dumbed down and a lot of my friends got into a different class.
Still have physics to come. On the whole, I think college is pretty weird. After being at school for so long, it's like a splash of water in the face. We all have to do a lot of growing up pretty quickly. It's good though. I think I'll enjoy it.
